INDONESIA NEW LABEL SCHEME, The government of Indonesia has just recently released a new regulation for products being marketed in Indonesia. Product label which initially brought in typeapproval scheme promoted by Ministry of Communication and Information Technology is now being added by another label scheme.

In addition to the existed label scheme promoted by Ministry of Communication and Information Technology (MCIT), a new regulation mandating the inclusion of labels on various kinds of goods to provide Indonesian consumers with accurate information, will come into force on September 1, 2010 for new products and 18 months transitional period for products that have been circulating on the market before this new regulation applies. All manufacturers or importers of regulated goods to be traded in the Indonesian market must include this label in INDONESIAN language. The Ministry of Trade of Republic of Indonesia (MoT) issued the label regulaion as no. 61/M-DAG/PER/12/2009 on December 21, 2009 and its just recently released, revision no. 21/M-DAG/PER/5/2010.

NOT ALL RF & TELECOM PRODUCTS covered in this new label scheme (MoT Label Scheme). Products covered in MoT Label Scheme are classified into four categories as stated in Annex section of this regulation, Annex I (Household electronics, Telecommunication & IT devices - 46 products), Annex II (Building construction materials - 8 products), Annex III (Automotive & Motorcycle spare parts - 24 products) and Annex IV (other commodities e.g. footwear, leather products, toys, apparel, etc - 25 products).
