802.11a IS NOW ALLOWABLE TO BE USED AND MARKETED IN INDONESIA (NOTE: DIFFERENT APPROVAL ARRANGEMENT)

Update : 01 January, 2011

Despite of the facts that 5 GHz utilization is not allowable to be used for WLAN (802.11a) application in the past, following to the published of regulation which allows 802.11b/g utilization in year 1998 and 2001. The regulator has just recently published a new regulation no.233/DIRJEN/2010 allowing 5 GHz (5.725 - 5.825 GHz) utilization for 802.11a application. We have formulated the guidance in this following link, http://www.typeapproval.asia/appforms/WLAN.pdf Feel free to download the document and please do not hesitate to contact us should you need more information with regard to this recent development in proceeding approval in Indonesia.

HOWEVER, there were DIFFERENT APPROVAL ARRANGEMENT in terms of 802.11a utilization in Indonesia

Following to the released of technical regulation no. 233/DIRJEN/2010, there have been dispute occurred in the industry with regard to the regulation's oddity found in the released regulation where the regulator has decided to keep the controversial regulatory part as follows,

Approval rewarded by the regulator will be different for 802.11a (WLAN) adapter and 802.11a (WLAN) access point. WLAN adapter will be allowable to be approved in Indonesia as multimode (802.11a/b/g/n approval is allowable), however WLAN access point is restricted to have multimode and eventually only 802.11a is acceptable.

Please do not hesitate to contact us should there be any aspects to clarify.
